Annual Events & Activities Hosted by the PTO
The PTO plans and executes a number of events each year to provide an opportunity for kids and their families to get together as a community and in some cases, to raise money for Atkinson that can be used toward things not covered in the school system budget (see the PTO Budget on the Admin page for more details on what PTO funding is allocated toward.)
Guardian/child Sporting Your Sport Challenge
This is our biggest event of the year as it is a district-wide event hosted by Atkinson (there is also a district-wide Father Daughter Dance hosted by one of the other elementary schools in town).
Book Fairs
October and April
The scholastic book fair earns Scholastic dollars for our school that can be used to buy books for our classrooms and library. Children can preview books during their school day and then come back in the evening with their family to buy books. The evening of the sale, there is a family fun activity to come together as a community. Volunteers are needed to help set up/take down the fair, work registers, and manage the crowds.
Holiday Social
The holiday social is a great time to celebrate the holidays with your Atkinson All Star family. Proceeds from the event are used to provide for several North Andover families in need during the holidays. Last year we were able to provide gifts for 12 children! This a big event that typically requires many volunteers to handle: set up/clean up, decorations, refreshments, raffle baskets, games, etc. We typically have a chairperson for each major area and then request additional volunteers to help with the leg work.
Teacher Appreciation Week
Every year we work hard to show the staff at Atkinson how much we appreciate their time, effort, and hard work. Events vary from year to year, so look for information in the weeks preceeding to see how you can participate.
